On the Injured List

I was on the injured list with a stupid cold or something (probably related to the wonderful weather we have been having) since my "last" day to the gym. Then, after trying to schedule a training session with a female during the day for almost two weeks (she was terrible about getting back via text...which she preferred), I decided that I do not need a hormonal female trainer. LOL I am hormonal enough without her issues too. So, I made a call to the club, got a male trainer's phone number and called and left a message. He called me that evening, made the appointment for the next day (this past Tuesday) and the worrying started!

I went to my training appointment early enough that I could do at least 15 minutes of cardio before my session. Little did I know, that was probably not a help! We sat down first, talked about what I wanted to get out of the gym, did my weight (176), fat percentage (40.8), and issues that I have medically (various neuropathies of my hands and feet, neck issues that I JUST had "fixed", and nursing)...pretty much it. Then, it was off to training.

First, he had me jump back onto a cardio machine to get warmed up again. I have been working on building up my endurance for the first week of C25K program. I REALLY would like to run a marathon...not to win...but to finish! Not sprint...but to jog most of the way.

After the warm-up, he had me do some push-ups on the lifting bar, pull-ups (at an angle) on the same bar, then about a million squats (half of them with a 35lb Kettle Ball. I am really excited about learning exercises with those. I have been wanting one since seeing them on The Biggest Loser!

After my three sets were over, we headed back over to make the next appointment. I felt great!!

Later that night, I started getting a little uncomfortable, but not too bad. Woke up yesterday and felt better than I thought I would. In the afternoon, I jumped on my treadmill in my livingroom to work on the C25K program to have to stop half way through because my legs were NOT enjoying it AT ALL!! Ten minutes of actual exercise (outside of my daily routine of a ToDo List). The pain just got worse and worse. Every time I would roll over to where ANY PART of the front of my thigh would touch the mattress...my mind and body screamed in pain! When I woke up...the pain was much lighter. Our bodies are just amazing!!!

So, I went to my session today (#2) and was just praying that I would not have to do too much with my legs. Walking was ok...but beyond that, no thank you. LOL I jumped on the treadmill to warm up for about 10 minutes then off to take measurements. I do not have those right now, but I will post them ASAP. Maybe I can get him to give me a copy. After the measurements were done, we worked on arms, chest and back for 30 minutes, three sets. I love the jumping squats...don't know why...they are just fun!! When that fun was over, he said, "Ok we're done", so I was getting ready to go home. He then clarified, "No, YOU are not done...WE are done. You get to go and do 30 minutes of cardio first...15 on the treadmill, 15 on the bike." Gee thanks! :} So, today, my training session lasted for about 70 minutes of pure training and five minutes of resting. I am loving it!!!

Here is to a new me!

Until less time...
